ICT Security Analyst

About the role

The ICT Security Analyst will join Milton Keynes City Council’s ICT service to protect the council’s digital environment. Working within a dedicated security team, you will help monitor, detect and respond to cyber threats while ensuring compliance with security frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively monitor ICT services for cyber threats and vulnerabilities, adhering to relevant security frameworks.
• Maintain awareness of emerging threats, threat intelligence, standards and frameworks to guide defence actions.
• Monitor, triage and investigate security alerts and reports, analysing event data to identify incidents.
• Identify, assess and prioritise current and emerging security risks, evaluating impact and likelihood.
• Audit system practices to ensure services meet cyber security policies and baseline standards.
• Document vulnerabilities, analyse trends and present findings with recommendations.
• Develop, implement and track mitigation plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Lead response to ICT security incidents, ensuring containment, eradication and recovery according to incident response plans.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring and protecting ICT services against cyber threats.
• Ability to stay current with emerging threats, standards and frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills for investigating alerts and assessing risks.
• Knowledge of security policies, baseline standards and compliance requirements.
• Effective communication and collaboration with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
