Immigration Lawyer

About the role

The Government Legal Department (GLD) is seeking an Immigration Lawyer to join its Litigation Directorate in Bristol. You will support the Home Office Immigration Division by developing knowledge resources, delivering training and ensuring that lawyers have the tools they need to handle high‑profile immigration cases.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and disseminate legal updates, case law and policy changes relevant to immigration litigation.
• Create and maintain practical tools such as lead‑lawyer notes, checklists, standard documents and precedents.
• Organise and deliver both online and in‑person legal training, including induction sessions for new lawyers.
• Collaborate with L&D specialists, panel law firms and internal stakeholders to design targeted training programmes.
• Support lawyer onboarding and manage knowledge capture when staff transition out of the team.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience in immigration law and public‑law litigation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex legal developments into clear guidance.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for training and knowledge‑sharing activities.
