Immigration Litigation Solicitor

About the role

The Government Legal Department is seeking an Immigration Litigation Solicitor to support the Home Office Immigration Judicial Review Team. You will help lawyers deliver high‑profile immigration cases while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain practical tools such as lead‑lawyer notes, checklists, standard documents and precedents.
• Monitor legal developments and translate them into concise updates and resources for the team.
• Organise and deliver both online and in‑person training sessions, including inductions and specialised workshops.
• Support lawyer onboarding and capture insights from departing colleagues.
• Collaborate with L&D specialists, panel law firms and internal stakeholders to design relevant training programmes.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with experience in immigration litigation and public‑law judicial review.
• Strong understanding of asylum, deportation, human trafficking and nationality law.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce clear legal guidance.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across government departments.
