Import Clerk

About the role

Our client, a well‑established logistics and freight forwarding business serving the aerospace and defence sectors, is seeking an experienced Import Clerk to join their busy Import Department in Slough. This full‑time position offers the chance to develop specialist customs knowledge while supporting a growing team.

Key responsibilities

• Handle customer enquiries via telephone and email.
• Liaise with customers, airlines, agents and transport providers.
• Arrange airline collections and deliveries.
• Plan import routings and coordinate overseas collections.
• Prepare and process customs entries using ASM/Sequoia.
• Complete tariff classification and import licence checks.
• Ensure correct use of CPCs and customs authorisations.
• Prepare import‑rated air waybills and simple quotations.
• Assist with invoicing and process post‑entry amendments and reclaims.
• Maintain accurate documentation and filing systems.
• Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations and company procedures.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in import freight forwarding or customs.
• Proven ability to complete import customs entries.
• Knowledge of Home Use, Inward/Outward Processing, Returned Goods Relief, Customs Warehousing and Carnets.
• Strong communication, organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work accurately under pressure.
