Import Clerk

About the role

We are seeking an Import Clerk to join a well‑established freight forwarding agent serving the aerospace, defence and pharmaceutical sectors. The role involves handling customs entries, coordinating shipments and supporting the import team on a full‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Answer phones and liaise with customers regarding import queries.
• Arrange airline collections and deliveries, and plan import routings.
• Prepare import rates, airway bills and simple quotations.
• Classify tariffs, obtain import licences and check CPC authorisations.
• Process customs entries using ASM, Gems or Sequoia systems.
• Handle occasional invoicing, filing and general administration.
• Submit post‑entry claims and reclaims.

Required profile

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and use judgement in daily tasks.
• UK driver’s licence and own transport for commuting to Colnbrook.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with customs entry software (ASM, Gems, Sequoia).
• Knowledge of tariff classification and import licence procedures.
