Import Coordinator – Ocean Freight (Full‑time)

About the role

We are a well‑established freight forwarding business looking for an experienced Import Coordinator to manage ocean freight import movements from start to finish. The role is permanent, full‑time and based in Basildon, South East England.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end ocean freight import consignments.
• Liaise with global shipping lines, agents and customers.
• Prepare and process import documentation, including Bills of Lading and customs paperwork.
• Monitor shipments, proactively handling delays or issues.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and internal procedures.
• Provide clear, timely updates to customers.
• Maintain accurate records using freight management systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ocean freight imports (essential).
• Strong understanding of import documentation and customs processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.
• Customer‑focused with a proactive, problem‑solving approach.

Required skills

• Experience using freight or logistics management systems (advantageous).
