Import Customer Service Coordinator

About the role

Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, you will provide excellent service to our customers and overseas partners by managing import jobs from booking through to delivery. The role includes costing, invoicing and completing all HMRC customs clearance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise workflow to ensure timely processing of all import tasks.
• Load consignments onto the system manually or via EDI and verify paperwork accuracy.
• Obtain pre‑alert documentation from overseas partners on the day of departure.
• Gather all customer instructions needed for customs clearance and release of cargo.
• Provide transport companies with required information to meet delivery requirements.
• Ensure payments, import duty and VAT are received before releasing orders.
• Cost and invoice files prior to delivery.
• Identify and raise early warnings on issues that may affect deadlines.
• Assist with insurance claims and complete weekly/month‑end routines.
• Adhere to client SOPs and SLAs at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working in an import role.
• Knowledge of customs clearance processes (preferred).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with commercial and transport teams.
