Import Export Supervisor – Air Freight

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Import Export Supervisor to join a dynamic Air Freight team within International Freight Forwarding Operations. In this role you will lead a high‑performing customs team, ensuring inbound and outbound air shipments are processed accurately, efficiently and in full regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and supervise the IFFO customs team to maintain high performance and adherence to procedures.
• Manage daily workloads, delegate tasks and meet service level deadlines.
• Oversee customs formalities for all air freight import and export shipments.
• Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and proactively mitigate operational risks.
• Support branch teams by embedding compliant processes and best practice.
• Monitor shipments in transit and ensure timely delivery progression.
• Deliver excellent customer service through clear, proactive communication.
• Take ownership of cost control and P&L, identifying efficiencies and savings.
• Collaborate across departments to support smooth 24/7 operational coverage.

Required profile

• Proven experience in air import/export, preferably within logistics, customs or freight forwarding.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of import and export customs processes across multimodal operations.
• Solid understanding of compliance requirements and customs regulations.
• Confident communicator, natural problem‑solver and commercially aware.
• Residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years (security clearance requirement).
• Flexibility to work a 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern.
