Import Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Import Manager to lead our freight forwarding operations at Heathrow. The role combines operational oversight, team leadership and commercial responsibility within a fast‑paced logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop high‑performing import and customs teams, providing coaching, performance management and succession planning.
• Manage departmental KPIs, service levels, productivity measures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee budgets, cost control and P&L performance for the import function.
• Act as senior escalation point for operational, customs, compliance and customer service issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs authorities and overseas partners.
• Drive customer business reviews, support new customer implementations and collaborate with commercial teams to grow the business.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in import, customs, freight forwarding or logistics operations.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience leading operational teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and proven budgetary and P&L responsibility.
• In‑depth knowledge of HMRC regulations, customs compliance and international freight forwarding, including air freight and multimodal transport.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
