Import Operator – LCL Freight Forwarding

About the role

We are seeking an Import Operator to join a fast‑growing freight forwarding team in Chelmsford. The role focuses on managing LCL import shipments into the UK, ensuring compliance, efficiency and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end import operations for LCL shipments arriving in the UK.
• Coordinate with overseas offices and global agents to guarantee accurate and timely cargo movement.
• Arrange and monitor bookings with carriers, hauliers and warehouse partners.
• Track shipments proactively and provide status updates to customers.
• Handle documentation, customs compliance and related administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Proven experience in an import operations role, preferably within LCL logistics or freight forwarding.
• Strong understanding of UK import procedures, customs regulations and Incoterms.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
• Customer‑centric mindset with a solutions‑driven approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using logistics software platforms.
