In-House Lawyer (Public Sector)

About the role
Join a small, expert legal team supporting a growing public‑sector organisation. You will work on a hybrid basis, spending two days per week in Oxford and the remainder remotely, delivering high‑quality legal advice across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, sales and partnership contracts.
- Identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, developing and monitoring internal policies and procedures.
- Advise the board of directors and senior management on corporate governance, structure and compliance matters.
- Manage legal disputes, regulatory inquiries and coordinate external counsel and budgets.
- Oversee the company’s intellectual property portfolio, protecting trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
Required profile
- Law degree or relevant qualification (LLB, LLM, CPE, SQE, LPC, CILEX).
- Experience in a busy contracts/legal team, preferably in‑house or public‑sector.
- Strong drafting, negotiating and risk‑management abilities.
- Knowledge of data‑protection legislation and related regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication, organisational skills and proactive initiative.
