Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) – Fixed‑Term

About the role

Join Look Ahead’s Homelessness Social Care Service in Kent as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA). This two‑year fixed‑term position offers the chance to support survivors of male domestic abuse, helping them navigate legal routes and build safer futures.

Key responsibilities

• Manage referrals, complete risk assessments and maintain all required documentation.
• Raise awareness of male domestic abuse within the Kent community as directed by line manager.
• Build supportive, trusting relationships with clients and foster a positive atmosphere.
• Attend MARAC meetings, follow MARAC protocols and handle related referrals.
• Assist clients in obtaining Non‑Molestation Orders and other civil remedies.
• Collaborate with team members to manage caseloads and administrative duties.
• Support clients in setting personalised goals through Safety and Support Plans.

Required profile

• Enjoys social interaction and works well in a team environment.
• Displays a warm, friendly presence and open behaviour.
• Remains calm and resilient under pressure, maintaining clear judgement.
• Is well‑organised with a practical, logical mindset.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
• Understanding of MARAC protocols and ability to attend MARAC meetings.
• Capability to support clients in obtaining non‑molestation orders and other civil remedies.
