About the role
The Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) role is a part‑time, permanent position based in South Derbyshire. It plays a critical part in quality‑assuring care plans and interventions for children looked after by the local authority, ensuring that each child's voice is heard throughout the process.
Key responsibilities
- Quality assure care plans and interventions for children looked after in local authority care.
- Ensure children’s voices are heard throughout the review process.
- Work flexibly from home, virtual settings or on‑site where children live.
- Participate in monthly supervision, regional development days and team meetings.
- Collaborate with a virtual school, specialist health support, locality children‑in‑care teams and a well‑regarded leaving‑care service.
Required profile
- Registered with Social Work England as a Social Worker.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a qualified social worker.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a car.
- Successful DBS check.
