Indirect Tax Assistant Accountant (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

You will join the Indirect Tax team within the Tax & Treasury function of Cooper Companies, supporting EMEA VAT/GST compliance for CVI and CooperVision entities. The position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract based in Delta Park, Fareham, with a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office, 2 days remote).

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT/GST returns for all relevant EMEA markets.
• Compile data for tax filings and liaise with external advisors to resolve queries.
• Perform reconciliations and review nominal ledgers related to indirect tax accounts.
• Arrange payment of indirect taxes and verify taxability of AP/AR invoices.
• Provide guidance on VAT issues, invoicing, and accounting entries to internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a schedule of indirect tax touchpoints and monitor legislative changes.
• Develop and maintain technical knowledge of indirect tax regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in a finance‑related role.
• Working knowledge of indirect tax concepts (training will be provided).
• Strong numerical, analytical and reasoning abilities.
• Ability to plan, prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience in an international environment is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Experience with a financial system such as Oracle or Navision.
