Indirect Tax Assistant – London

About the role

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Assistant to join our growing tax function in London. You will work within a specialist team, supporting the preparation and filing of international VAT returns across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring compliance deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit international VAT returns and reconciliations for multiple territories.
• Ensure VAT compliance activities are accurate and completed on time.
• Investigate, analyse and explain variances in VAT reporting, identifying root causes and supporting resolutions.
• Gather, validate and maintain information required for indirect tax reporting from internal stakeholders.
• Assist in developing and enhancing VAT compliance processes and controls.
• Support process‑improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy and scalability.
• Produce and maintain process documentation, procedures and working papers.
• Escalate risks, issues and compliance concerns promptly.
• Contribute to wider finance and tax projects as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a tax, finance, accounting or compliance environment.
• Understanding of VAT principles and indirect tax compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational capability and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
