Infection Prevention and Control Nurse – Cross-site Lead

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead Nurse to work across Cherwell Hospital in Banbury and Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes. The role involves providing evidence‑based IPC advice, leading surveillance and prevention activities, and promoting high standards of infection safety for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead surveillance, prevention and control of infections across both hospital sites.
• Promote and maintain high standards of IPC practices, including hand hygiene and aseptic non‑touch technique.
• Deliver mandatory IPC training and education to multidisciplinary staff.
• Conduct audits, produce reports and contribute to policy and procedure development.
• Support surgical site infection surveillance and tissue viability initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Degree‑level nursing education or equivalent experience.
• Recent experience in an acute surgical care environment.
• Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) knowledge.
• Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non‑touch Technique (ANTT).
• Surgical site infection surveillance and audit experience.
• Policy and procedure writing.
• Familiarity with Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
