Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and support secure virtualised environments for high‑assurance aerospace and defence projects. The role will focus on hypervisor deployment, virtual server provisioning, Windows hardening and Active Directory design while ensuring reliability, security and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and configure virtual server environments, including installation and management of hypervisors (VMware, Hyper‑V or equivalents).
• Provision, monitor and maintain virtual machines to meet performance, availability and scalability targets.
• Implement Windows system hardening and lockdown measures using GPOs and CIS baselines.
• Design, deploy and manage Active Directory architecture, including domains, forests and group policies.
• Support core infrastructure services such as DNS and TCP/IP networking.
• Monitor system performance, availability and security posture across the infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across virtualisation, OS and network layers.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, build guides and configuration standards.
• Collaborate with security, network and systems teams to ensure integrated, secure designs.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure or Systems Engineer in enterprise or complex environments.
• Strong background in virtualised server environments and secure system configuration.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows Server administration and Active Directory design.
• Solid understanding of Windows hardening techniques and security controls.
• Good knowledge of networking fundamentals, especially DNS and TCP/IP.
• Experience in monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting infrastructure services.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation.
