Infrastructure Lead

About the role

Nextech is seeking an Infrastructure Lead to become the most senior operational resource within its managed services team in Manchester. This hands‑on technical leadership position focuses on complex hybrid‑cloud and on‑premises environments, guiding incident resolution, platform engineering and hardware lifecycle activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical response to P1 and P2 incidents and deliver RCA reports within five working days.
• Manage Dell VxRail cluster upgrades, node expansions, firmware and VSAN health.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and optimisation of VMware Cloud Foundation (vSphere, VSAN, NSX).
• Maintain HPE ProLiant servers and HPE MSA 2050 SAN storage.
• Own Veeam Backup & Replication architecture, policy design and recovery testing, ensuring >98% success.
• Oversee Azure disaster‑recovery strategy, landing‑zone governance and hybrid platform management.
• Produce monthly capacity‑management reports and present RFCs to the weekly Change Advisory Board.
• Handle vendor escalations with Dell, HPE, VMware (Broadcom) and Microsoft.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior infrastructure operations within managed‑services or similar environments.
• Ability to make high‑stakes decisions under pressure and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills for incident briefings, post‑mortems and stakeholder reviews.
