Infrastructure Operations Engineer – Remote (London)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to lead Azure, Microsoft 365 and cyber‑security environments for a public‑sector client undergoing a major cloud transformation. The role combines technical ownership with team leadership, ensuring the organisation’s systems are secure, resilient and future‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage the strategy, design and lifecycle of Azure cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365 and identity platforms.
• Own Azure services including networking, compute, storage, monitoring, backup and disaster‑recovery.
• Lead cyber‑security operations, vulnerability management, incident response and compliance activities.
• Manage and mentor a small infrastructure team, providing technical guidance.
• Drive cloud transformation projects and migrate legacy workloads to Azure.
• Administer Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, RBAC and related identity services.
• Improve IT Service Management processes such as Change Management, Asset Management and CMDB administration.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience administering Microsoft Azure environments.
• Proven experience managing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and Intune.
• Deep knowledge of Azure networking, compute, storage, monitoring, backup and disaster‑recovery.
• Experience leading or managing infrastructure teams.
• Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and Azure Cloud Shell.
