Innovation Engineer / Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for three Innovation Engineers/Project Managers to join NGED’s Innovation team. The role will drive research, development and capability‑scale‑up projects that transform how the electricity network is operated and managed.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver innovation and roll‑out projects of varying size and scope.
• Manage research, development and capability roll‑out projects in line with Ofgem governance and NGED policies.
• Support internal teams to develop, trial, disseminate and adopt new solutions.
• Lead funding applications for Ofgem innovation incentive schemes and other sources.
• Represent NGED at national forums such as ENA, Ofgem and government meetings.
• Develop and review NGED innovation policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare detailed project reports, cost‑benefit analyses and regulatory submissions.
• Mentor and coach junior staff members.

Required profile

• Strong project‑management background with a technical engineering foundation.
• Ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Motivation to build future‑ready capabilities for electricity networks.

Required skills

• Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, AMP PMQ).
• Significant experience managing complex projects.
• Understanding of UK electricity transmission and distribution assets, safety requirements and relevant legislation.
