Inpatient Specialty Doctor – Adult Psychiatry (2 posts)

About the role

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting two Specialty Doctors to join the inpatient adult psychiatry service at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport – one for the female ward and one for the male ward. The posts are newly created to provide consistent, experienced medical support on the inpatient units.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients admitted to the designated inpatient ward and initiate appropriate treatment.
• Participate in daily ward rounds with the multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct physical health examinations and monitor patients’ clinical progress.
• Implement and review treatment plans as outlined by the MDT and report to the ward consultant.
• Collaborate with community mental health teams when required.

Required profile

• Full medical qualification and registration with the General Medical Council.
• Experience in adult psychiatry (16+ years) and inpatient settings.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and follow MDT care pathways.
• Commitment to high‑quality patient care and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of psychiatric disorders.
• Physical health examination skills.
• Knowledge of NHS inpatient psychiatry protocols.
