Inside Sales (FCL) – Freight Forwarding

About the role

We are looking for a proactive FCL Inside Sales Executive to join our client’s team in Basildon. The role focuses on supporting ocean shipping customers, preparing quotations and building strong relationships with both suppliers and clients. Full training is provided, making it ideal for candidates eager to develop a career in freight forwarding.

Key responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls and correspond with customers and overseas offices via phone and email.
• Prepare and present quotations using contract rates and spot‑rate platforms through the operating system.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and clients to drive business growth.
• Generate leads and collaborate with external sales teams to expand the client base.
• Conduct targeted follow‑ups to improve conversion rates and nurture existing accounts.
• Coordinate with the operations team to ensure a smooth transition from quote to booking.

Required profile

• Experience in ocean shipping, either as a freight forwarder or with a shipping line.
• Proven ability to prepare detailed and accurate quotations.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with a track record of relationship building.
• Demonstrated skill in lead generation and follow‑up.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
