Insurance Manager

About the role

The Group Insurance Manager will lead the company’s insurance programme across the UK and Ireland, acting as the primary contact for all insurance matters. Working remotely with occasional site visits, you will partner with brokers, insurers and senior leaders to shape the strategic direction of the function.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the annual renewal of the group’s commercial insurance policies, securing appropriate cover and competitive terms.
• Manage relationships with external brokers, insurers and advisors, ensuring service quality and cost efficiency.
• Oversee the full claims lifecycle across multiple classes, from reporting to settlement.
• Provide risk‑management and insurance advice to operational, finance and legal teams.
• Review contractual insurance requirements and advise on policy wording.
• Produce regular risk and claims reports for senior management and the board.
• Support risk surveys, site assessments and insurer visits.
• Assist with due‑diligence and integration activities related to acquisitions and major projects.
• Monitor insurance spend, support budget planning and identify process improvements.
• Mentor and develop a small internal insurance team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in insurance, risk management, broking or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance programmes and claims handling.
• Demonstrated ability to work with insurers, brokers and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of commercial insurance products and policy terms.
• Experience with claims management processes.
• Familiarity with risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
