Interim Catering Manager – Hackney (2‑Month Assignment)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Catering Manager to lead the catering department of a care organisation in Hackney for a minimum two‑month assignment. The role involves overseeing food service for patients, visitors and staff, ensuring high standards of quality, hygiene and nutrition.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day operations of the catering service, managing a team of 2 chefs and 3 catering assistants.
• Maintain food hygiene, health and safety standards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Control stock, place orders, manage supplier relationships and monitor the catering budget.
• Develop staff rotas, plan resources and drive service improvements.
• Guarantee that all dietary, nutritional and food safety requirements are met.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Catering Manager or Supervisor, preferably in healthcare, hospice or similar settings.
• Strong leadership and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety legislation and compliance.
• Experience handling budgets, stock control and supplier contracts.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership from day one.
• Standard DBS check required (or ability to obtain).

Required skills

• Food Hygiene Level 3 qualification (desirable).
