Interim Data Protection & Fraud Manager

About the role

This interim position sits within the Legal function of a regulated organisation and is responsible for leading the Data Protection and Fraud compliance programme. The role is hybrid, requiring three days a week on‑site in Warrington.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the Data Protection and Fraud compliance framework.
• Act as the primary subject‑matter expert for all related queries and provide guidance on projects, new products and outsourcing arrangements.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, compliance reviews and health checks, and report findings to senior stakeholders.
• Investigate breaches, manage remediation activities and liaise with regulators and external bodies.
• Oversee Subject Access Requests, data incidents and disclosure requests.
• Deliver data protection and fraud awareness training across the organisation.
• Manage relationships with law enforcement, government agencies and financial institutions.
• Line‑manage a Data Protection & Fraud Officer, ensuring performance and development.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading Data Protection and/or Fraud compliance programmes.
• Deep knowledge of UK data protection legislation and its practical application.
• Relevant qualification in Data Protection, Compliance or Fraud, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders on regulatory risks.
• Experience handling regulatory investigations, complaints and external stakeholder relationships.

• Competitive daily rate of £500‑£1,000 (inside IR35 via umbrella).
