Interim Employee Relations Consultant – Birmingham (Hybrid)

About the role

This interim position supports a large public‑sector organisation in Birmingham, delivering high‑quality employee‑relations advice across a diverse workforce. Working on a hybrid schedule (2‑3 days on site), you will help manage complex cases and contribute to major change projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied employee‑relations caseload covering conduct, capability, attendance, grievances and Equality Act issues.
• Provide specialist consultancy for organisational change projects such as TUPE transfers, redundancy programmes and collective consultation exercises.
• Lead employment‑litigation activities, including disclosure, preparation of tribunal bundles, witness preparation and liaison with legal advisors.
• Build strong relationships with line managers, trade‑union representatives and legal stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
• Deliver coaching and training to managers to improve their handling of employee‑relations matters.
• Produce reports, insights and management information to support senior‑leadership decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a broad and complex employee‑relations caseload.
• Experience providing consultancy support on projects and organisational‑change initiatives.
• Background working within a unionised environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice in employee relations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Availability to start immediately.
