Interim Finance Business Partner

About the role

This interim position supports a respected public‑sector organisation in Manchester, reporting to the Head of Finance. The role runs on a long‑term contract until October 2027 and combines office presence (two days a week) with remote work, offering a hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with senior budget holders and directors.
• Lead monthly forecasting and cash‑flow forecasting activities.
• Meet regularly with stakeholders to review financial performance and projected outturns.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
• Prepare and present month‑end financial reports.
• Manage actuals, accruals and pre‑payments within the month‑end process.
• Support budget readiness and change requests as required.
• Analyse financial data and translate complex information into clear business recommendations.
• Work with SUN financial systems, Excel reporting tools and the organisation's P2P system.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or Finance Business Partner role.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Proven track record delivering budgeting, forecasting and month‑end processes.
• Excellent communication skills adaptable to different audiences.
• Proactive approach to identifying and managing financial risks and opportunities.
• Experience in the public sector, not‑for‑profit or regulated environments is highly advantageous.
• Qualified, part‑qualified or qualified‑by‑experience (QBE) candidates considered.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with SUN financial systems.
• Familiarity with P2P (procure‑to‑pay) systems.
