Interim Finance Controller – £400-£450 per day

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Controller to join a £50m turnover business in Wetherby. This short‑term assignment (3‑6 months) offers the chance to stabilise the finance function, strengthen controls and drive process improvements during a key transition period.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations, ensuring accuracy and strong financial control.
• Lead month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliations, cash‑flow reporting and management information delivery.
• Review and improve existing finance processes, reporting, systems and ways of working.
• Provide direction and support to the finance team and act as a trusted partner to senior leadership.
• Oversee finance systems and outsourced payroll processes, ensuring they operate effectively with appropriate controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Finance Controller or Senior Finance Manager leading a finance function.
• Comfortable stepping into environments that need structure, challenge and improvement.
• Hands‑on operator who can balance strategic thinking with detailed execution.
• Excellent communicator able to quickly build credibility with stakeholders.
