Interim Financial Accounting & Controls Manager (Bristol)

About the role

This interim position offers an experienced finance professional the chance to lead financial accounting and control functions within a large, transforming organisation based in Bristol. Working in a specialist finance team, you will ensure robust governance while driving process improvements across a major business area.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial accounting and controls for a designated business area.
• Prepare technical accounting papers and support accounting judgements.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations and governance requirements.
• Support audit activities and strengthen financial control frameworks.
• Drive process improvements to accelerate month‑end close.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across a large matrix organisation.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting and controls.
• Proven background in governance, risk and compliance within large, complex organisations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Technical accounting expertise, including statutory reporting.

Required skills

• SAP experience (advantageous).
