Interim Financial Controller (Hybrid, Birmingham)

About the role

The company, a well‑established financial services business in Birmingham, is seeking an Interim Financial Controller for an initial six‑month period. This hands‑on role will maintain the finance function’s rhythm, ensure accurate reporting and provide stability while a permanent hire is identified.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end close and produce timely, accurate management accounts.
• Own statutory reporting and support the year‑end audit process.
• Strengthen financial controls, processes and reconciliations.
• Ensure reporting meets the standards required in a regulated financial‑services environment.
• Manage and support the finance team throughout the interim period.
• Provide clear, board‑ready financial information to the senior leadership team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with solid financial control experience.
• Proven ownership of month‑end and statutory reporting.
• Strong technical accounting and control background, preferably within financial services or another regulated sector.
• Available at short notice for a six‑month contract, with openness to a permanent role.
