Interim Health & Safety Compliance Project Manager (4‑Month)

About the role
This interim position supports a large multi‑site organisation across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. You will lead a high‑impact compliance programme, stabilising statutory health and safety performance and delivering rapid improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct a compliance baseline review, audit existing records and establish an auditable baseline.
- Perform risk assessments, maintain risk registers and escalate high‑risk issues.
- Oversee regulatory compliance for fire safety, asbestos, legionella, electrical, gas, lifting equipment, radon and contractor management.
- Lead investigations of high‑risk incidents, develop mitigation plans and track remedial actions.
- Coordinate specialist contractors, verify certifications and maintain audit trails.
- Provide daily updates, weekly executive reports and board‑level assurance papers.
- Prepare evidence for regulators and support interactions to ensure documentation withstands scrutiny.
Required profile
- Proven delivery of complex health and safety compliance programmes.
- Experience in regulated environments such as education, NHS, local government or housing.
- Track record of managing multi‑site portfolios and leading compliance recovery initiatives.
- Ability to present findings to boards, trustees or senior leadership.

What we offer
- Hybrid working based in Truro with significant onsite presence.
- Daily rate of £300‑£400.
- Immediate start on a 4‑month assignment with potential extension.
