Interim HR Manager – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join a well‑established engineering business in North Devon on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. The Interim HR Manager will work closely with site leaders and managers, influencing the people agenda while delivering day‑to‑day HR services. You will act as a trusted partner to line managers, helping to create a positive, inclusive and high‑performing workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with line managers across the employee lifecycle, providing practical HR advice.
• Manage employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters.
• Support and lead initiatives in employee engagement, performance management, talent acquisition and development.
• Oversee the full recruitment cycle for permanent roles on the site.
• Lead the site apprenticeship programme, from attracting candidates to their development and progression.
• Manage compensation, benefits and performance review processes, ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation.

Required profile

• A degree or CIPD Level 5 qualification with relevant HR management or advisory experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build trusted relationships at all levels.
• Customer‑focused attitude with a passion for supporting people and the business.
• Ability to switch between strategic thinking and hands‑on delivery, with strong planning and problem‑solving skills.
