Interim Management Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Interim Management Accountant to join a large, contract‑led infrastructure business in Bolton. The role supports a key water infrastructure project on a six‑month contract, reporting to the Finance Manager and operating independently without junior support.

Key responsibilities

• Produce full management accounts end‑to‑end
• Prepare journals, accruals and pre‑payments
• Own the profit and loss statement
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Manage work‑in‑progress and deferred income
• Conduct variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting
• Analyse cost‑to‑complete and support business partnering
• Prepare audit documentation and ensure readiness
• Present financial results to senior stakeholders

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (QBE) or equivalent
• Proven management‑accounting experience in a project or contract environment
• Ability to manage the full accounting cycle independently
• Strong Excel proficiency
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite or a similar ERP system
• Understanding of project accounting principles
• Confident communicator with experience presenting to senior finance stakeholders
