Interim Management Accountant – Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a respected charity in Devizes on a 15‑month maternity cover. The role is hands‑on, hybrid and offers the chance to influence financial reporting, budgeting and project accounting for an organisation focused on conservation and community projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for senior leadership and trustees.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across the organisation.
• Act as finance business partner to budget holders, explaining performance and project finances.
• Oversee project accounting, grant claims and funding‑related financial reporting.
• Process monthly payroll and support pension, HMRC and year‑end payroll requirements.
• Support VAT returns, audit preparation, cash flow monitoring and control account reconciliations.
• Manage and support a small finance team.

Required profile

• Strong management accounting experience, preferably in a small‑ to medium‑sized organisation.
• Proven ability to work with budget holders and communicate financial information clearly.
• Experience in project accounting, grant reporting and payroll processing.
• Ability to support finance system implementation and process improvements.
