Interim Payroll Manager – 3 Month Contract

About the role

This is a three‑month interim contract for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the end‑to‑end payroll function for a fast‑growing SME. Working hybrid (three days in the City of London office and two days remote), you will be the sole payroll professional responsible for approximately 900 employees.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle for ~900 staff, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Maintain compliance with UK payroll legislation and internal policies.
• Provide payroll documentation and reconciliations for internal and external audits.
• Resolve complex payroll queries and keep payroll records up to date.
• Produce payroll reports in Excel and support finance with related reconciliations.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure employee data accuracy.
• Handle payroll administration tasks and other ad‑hoc duties as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing high‑volume, complex payrolls.
• Track record of supporting payroll audits and ensuring statutory compliance.
• Comfortable working independently as the sole payroll professional.
• Hands‑on attitude with flexibility to take on administrative tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience using the Deel platform.

What we offer

• Day rate of £200‑£280.
