About the role
We are seeking an ambitious, experienced SEND leader to join a Berkshire primary school as an Interim Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion) from September to December 2026, with the possibility of a permanent position. Working closely with the Headteacher, you will help shape the school’s inclusive practices and drive high‑quality SEND provision.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the school’s SEND and inclusion strategy.
- Coach and support teachers to improve inclusive classroom practice.
- Ensure that SEND provision meets the highest standards and complies with statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to influence school-wide policies.
- Build strong relationships with staff, the wider trust, and local families.
Required profile
- Deep knowledge of effective SEND strategies, preferably with NASENCO qualification.
- Proven experience in a school leadership role with a track record of high expectations.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and ability to build trusting partnerships.
- Resilient, collaborative leader comfortable in a dynamic environment.
