Interim Procurement Lead

About the role

This interim position supports a respected not‑for‑profit organisation in London that is building a procurement function from scratch. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will design, launch and embed procurement best practices, policies and governance structures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive review of existing third‑party spend, supplier arrangements and procurement activity.
• Design and implement a greenfield procurement operating model, including policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Establish a central contracts register and develop supplier databases and management processes.
• Create procurement templates, toolkits and spend‑analysis reporting capabilities.
• Identify commercial, contractual and compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop sourcing, tendering and contract‑management processes aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Build procurement governance, approval routes and delegated authority structures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to raise commercial awareness and improve procurement maturity.
• Identify cost‑optimisation and value‑for‑money opportunities.
• Support planning of future procurement resources and long‑term operating models.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading procurement transformation and greenfield set‑ups.
• Proven track record of establishing procurement functions, frameworks and governance from inception.
• Strong understanding of contract management, supplier management and procurement best practice.
• Ability to work autonomously in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
