Interim Procurement Manager - Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Interim Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing and category management for a public‑sector construction portfolio. You will shape procurement strategy, drive value for money and ensure compliance with public‑sector regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver procurement strategies for construction, capital projects and wider capital programme spend.
• Manage end‑to‑end procurement activities, including market engagement, tendering, evaluation, contract award and contract management.
• Partner with stakeholders to support infrastructure, regeneration, property, leisure and community‑based projects.
• Provide commercial and procurement expertise on major capital investments, ensuring compliance, value for money and risk management.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, social value and sustainability outcomes.
• Identify efficiencies, cost savings and continuous improvement across the category portfolio.

Required profile

• Significant experience in procurement, category management or strategic sourcing within the construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of public‑sector procurement legislation and best practice.
• Experience managing complex tenders and high‑value contracts.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Professional procurement qualification (CIPS Level 4 or above) or equivalent.
