Interim SEND Caseworker – £300/day (Remote)

About the role

This interim position supports Liverpool City Council in delivering high‑quality SEND services. Working mostly remotely, you will coordinate statutory assessments, monitor pupil progress and ensure compliance with the graduated approach for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑ordinate the statutory assessment process and manage the Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning cycle for assigned schools and settings.
• Monitor statutory timescales, ensuring EHC plans are completed on schedule and kept up to date.
• Provide advice and support to SENCos, head teachers and families, placing parents/carers at the centre of planning and review.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners including SENISS, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychology, Social Care, Health and Adult Social Care.
• Attend annual reviews for vulnerable pupils such as Looked‑After Children, Continuing Care and those at risk of exclusion.
• Liaise with Finance, Business Support and Transport teams to keep placement and cost information current.
• Stay informed of changes in SEND legislation, policy and guidance.

Required profile

• Experience working with SEND settings, schools or local authority services.
• Good knowledge of the graduated approach, EHC planning process and relevant legislation.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with multi‑agency partners and families.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet statutory deadlines.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of customer care for pupils and families.
