Interim Solid Earth Editor (Associate/Senior) – Nature Geoscience

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking an interim editor with a strong background in geophysics to join the Nature Portfolio editorial team for Nature Geoscience. The role can be based in London, Milano or Pune and involves evaluating cutting‑edge research across the Earth and planetary sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Assess original research manuscripts, select suitable papers and oversee the peer‑review process.
• Make well‑reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice and scientific merit.
• Contribute to the journal’s content strategy and commission reviews or editorials.
• Liaise with editors across the Nature Portfolio and with leading scientists worldwide.
• Represent the journal at conferences and research institutions.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in a geophysics‑related discipline.
• Deep understanding of recent trends in seismology, tectonics, geodynamics and related fields.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to evaluate novelty, context and impact of interdisciplinary research.
• Willingness to travel internationally to engage with the scientific community.
