Interim Tax Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Interim Tax Manager to join a leading independent accountancy firm in Birmingham. You will work within the Private Client & Trust Services team, leading compliance and advisory work for personal and trust tax matters while contributing to the growth of the service line.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Personal and Trust Tax compliance service, preparing and reviewing tax returns for private clients and trusts.
• Sign off Personal and Trust Tax Returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely submission.
• Provide advisory services covering inheritance tax, capital gains tax, offshore trusts and international tax issues.
• Oversee 60‑day CGT returns, Trust Registration Service submissions, Trust IHT returns and CRS reporting.
• Liaise with HMRC, clients and other advisers to resolve complex queries.
• Coach and develop team members, support recruitment, conduct appraisals and drive training initiatives.
• Participate in business development activities such as networking events and technical marketing campaigns.

Required profile

• Significant experience in personal and trust tax compliance and advisory.
• Proven ability to manage complex client relationships with empathy and professionalism.
• Leadership experience, including coaching, recruitment support and performance management.
• Strong commercial awareness and willingness to contribute to business development.
