Interim TRAC Accountant – Higher Education Finance

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced TRAC Accountant on an interim basis for a leading UK higher education institution. The role is based in Central London, with onsite work on Mondays and Wednesdays, and runs until approximately December.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual Transparent Approach to Costing (TRAC) submission from start to finish, ensuring compliance and timely delivery.
• Maintain and develop the organisation's TRAC and full economic costing models.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with TRAC guidance and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and present TRAC governance reports to senior leadership and committee meetings.
• Produce detailed costing analysis across teaching, research and other institutional activities.
• Coordinate the Time Allocation Survey, overseeing data collection and validation.
• Review and improve existing costing approaches, reporting and data quality.

Required profile

• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience with TRAC and full economic costing within the higher education sector.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling abilities.
• Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights to stakeholders at all levels.
