Internal Auditor – Public Sector & Not‑For‑Profit

About the role

Menzies is seeking Internal Auditors (and Senior Internal Auditors) to join its Birmingham office. You will work with a diverse portfolio of public‑sector and not‑for‑profit clients, providing independent assurance and practical advice to strengthen governance, risk management and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, risk‑based internal audit assignments.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted adviser.
• Analyse business processes, identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
• Provide clear, value‑added findings and actionable recommendations.
• Prepare accurate audit reports and collaborate on feedback.
• Support compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure an outstanding client experience.

Required profile

• GCSEs/A‑Levels (or equivalent); degree desirable; pursuing ACCA or CIA qualification.
• Minimum 12 months experience in internal audit within an accountancy practice or public/not‑for‑profit sector.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
