International Payroll Specialist

About the role

James Gray Associates is a rapidly growing international organisation operating across the UK and Europe. Following recent European expansion, the company is establishing its first in‑house international payroll function. The International Payroll Specialist will lead European payroll operations, managing outsourced providers while supporting the transition to an internal model.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple European countries through external payroll providers.
• Coordinate payroll inputs, approvals, reconciliations and payroll reporting.
• Ensure payroll compliance with local legislation, statutory payments and tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage starters, leavers, contractual changes, bonuses, deductions and employee payroll queries.
• Liaise with external payroll providers, finance teams and local payroll consultants.
• Reconcile payroll data and support internal and external audits.
• Maintain payroll records, documentation and reporting using advanced Excel.
• Support the long‑term transition of payroll activities from outsourced providers to an in‑house model.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and support continued international expansion.

Required profile

• 3–5 years' experience managing international payroll across Europe.
• Strong experience processing end‑to‑end payroll across multiple countries.
• Previous exposure to Nordic payrolls, especially Finland, is highly desirable.
• Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and multiple payroll vendors.

What we offer

• Salary £55,000–£65,000 per year.
