Intervention Mentor – Secondary SEMH School

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Intervention Mentor to join a secondary SEMH school in Bolton starting September 2026. The role focuses on providing targeted support to students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils who need additional support.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions addressing behaviour, emotional wellbeing, attendance and engagement.
• Support students both inside the classroom and in wider school settings.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies.
• Equip pupils with confidence, resilience and practical strategies for academic success.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people, preferably in SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or pastoral environments.
• Calm, patient and empathetic with strong professional relationship skills.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive, restorative approaches.
• Flexible, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle; willingness to hold business‑use insurance.
