Intervention Mentor – Support SEMH Students

About the role

The school is seeking an Intervention Mentor to work directly with secondary students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will deliver targeted support to improve behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and engagement, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group interventions focused on behaviour, emotional wellbeing and academic engagement.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to develop and implement support strategies.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions to meet individual student needs.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
• Calm, patient, resilient approach and ability to manage challenging behaviour positively.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence, own vehicle and willingness to obtain business insurance if required.
• Background in education, youth work, residential care, support work, sports coaching, mentoring or similar settings is highly desirable.
