Investment and Design Coordinator

About the role

As an Investment and Design Coordinator at Northern Gas Networks, you will drive safe, high‑quality capital projects that support the gas distribution network. You will own the technical design lifecycle from concept through to handover, ensuring compliance, cost‑effectiveness and alignment with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the full early project lifecycle, from concept development to final design and construction handover.
• Develop clear, comprehensive scopes that capture project requirements and eliminate technical ambiguity.
• Embed Health & Safety by applying Safety‑by‑Design principles across all engineering solutions.
• Lead and manage detailed design activities, ensuring effective design contract management.
• Provide robust technical challenge to guarantee constructability and operational suitability.
• Engage with the supply chain to secure long‑lead items and meet key milestones.
• Plan, coordinate and oversee enabling works and specialist surveys.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support business cases and continuous improvement.
• Produce business cases, conduct cost‑benefit analysis and justify investment decisions.

Required profile

• Strong technical capability with relevant qualifications and authorisations in your specialist discipline.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the operational area.
• Experience working across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, pipeline, cathodic protection, civil and security disciplines.

What we offer

• Salary of £53,486 per year plus up to 10% bonus.
• Permanent contract, 40‑hour week.
• Work based at offices in Thorpe Park (Leeds) or Doxford Park (Sunderland).
