Investment Banking Associate – Consumer & Retail

About the role

Citi’s Consumer, Luxury & Retail investment banking franchise is expanding rapidly and seeks an Associate to support senior bankers on high‑profile transactions. Based in London, you will work on mergers and acquisitions, capital‑raising and strategic advisory projects for leading consumer‑focused clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior officers in developing and maintaining client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
• Lead day‑to‑day execution of M&A and strategic advisory assignments, including due‑diligence, financial modelling and documentation.
• Monitor industry trends, company performance and competitive dynamics to generate ideas for clients.
• Leverage prior investment‑banking experience to enhance execution of transactions and capital‑raising activities.
• Mentor analysts, manage information flow and provide feedback on credit and exposure matters.
• Ensure compliance with Citi policies, regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field; MBA is a plus.
• Previous experience in investment banking or a related financial advisory role.
• Proven ability to evaluate corporate transactions, structures and create detailed financial analyses.
• Strong problem‑solving, organisational and communication skills.
