iOS & Android Mobile Developer (Mid/Senior) – Government Digital Service

About the role

The Government Digital Service (GDS) is looking for experienced iOS and Android developers to join the GOV.UK One Login programme. You will work on native mobile applications that enable citizens to prove their identity and manage digital credentials securely.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) applications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary agile teams from user research through to release.
• Implement UI using UIKit, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose and ensure accessibility.
• Write automated tests and contribute to continuous integration pipelines.
• Support live operations and respond to incidents.
• Share knowledge of tools and techniques across the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience building native mobile apps for iOS and/or Android.
• Ability to work in an agile, cross‑functional environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to code quality.
• Interest in public‑sector digital services and user‑centred design.
