IPS Employment Specialist

About the role

The IPS Employment Specialist will work on the Isle of Wight delivering the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach to help people with mental health needs secure sustainable paid employment. This community‑based, site‑based role involves close collaboration with clients, health professionals, service providers and local employers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of around 20 clients motivated to start or return to work.
• Deliver the IPS approach (training provided) to support clients from outreach through to job placement and withdrawal of support.
• Conduct vocational profiling, create action plans, and assist with CV writing, applications, interview preparation and career development.
• Provide benefits, welfare and disclosure advice related to work.
• Attend weekly clinical team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner.
• Source job opportunities through tailored searches and regular contact with local employers.
• Educate and support employers on adjustments, return‑to‑work strategies and ongoing retention.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in supporting people with mental health needs.
• Ability to manage a moderate caseload and maintain accurate records.
• Good communication skills for building relationships with clients and employers.
• Willingness to attend clinical team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
